The jar is made from earthenware and glazed by hand using a traditional manual dipping technique. The collar is formed from Portuguese burel, a dense wool felt traditionally used in outerwear. It is folded and stitched by hand and may be dry cleaned if needed. The lid is ceramic and fits neatly within the top opening. Small differences in surface or stitching reflect the handmade nature of each piece.

This piece is made in the Oeste region, a historic ceramics area in Portugal. The form is shaped and finished by ceramicists using long-standing regional techniques, while the collar is created by a textile specialist.
